the Best of uganda Safari

Uganda safaris are anything but tame. Elephants, rhinos, reptiles, tree climbing Lions, Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzee, Golden monkeys roam in Uganda National parks /rainforests. The popular safari is gorilla trekking. Uganda is home to largest number of apes, about 700 mountain gorilla remaining in the world, including a birding Safaris. Not all of them are thriving: The Ziwa Rhino sanctuary is most Uganda’s endangered large mammal, but the greatest fear is over the poachers who have killed some animals like Elephants, Rhinos, Uganda cobs. Choppers deployed to fight poaching in Tanzania’national parks

Aerial patrols have been initiated by conservation authorities in and around Tanzania national parks to fight poaching. The Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), both based in Arusha will join forces in conducting aerial patrolling using helicopters and various wildlife rangers to combat poaching, crime and other illegal acts in Tanzania’s national parks in the Northern Circuit. According to the Tourism Officer with Tanzania National Parks, Mr. Johnson Manase, revealed that TANAPA and NCAA had agreed to pool their resources together and fight poaching in order to secure Tanzania’s wildlife from extinction. Wildlife rangers on the ground and a helicopter in the sky will be used to ensure faster rescue operations as well as aerial perambulation. the Public Relations Manager for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, Mr. Adam Akyoo, said the joint patrol initiative was taken because the area under NCAA and Serengeti national park were too close and this could help to simplify on this task hence putting Kenya’s national parks and game reserves on a safer side. The Serengeti eco-system is formed by The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Maasai Mara, that is why during migrations millions of animals move back-and-forth between the three destinations to get better habitats. He pointed out that any attack on Serengeti also affects Ngorongoro and vice-versa, therefore a joint patrol between the two was necessary. Ngorongoro, whose main selling point is the wildlife filled, giant volcanic crater, and the Serengeti, an endless plain filled with practically all species that came off Noah’s ark after the legendary floods, account for 850,000 tourists out of the 1 million visitors who tour Tanzania every year. With such high number of visitors, both the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National park are essentially Tanzania’s most popular and equally sensitive tourist destinations that call for high-level protection of its wildlife

The populations of Mountain Gorillas

The populations of Mountain Gorillas are declaiming due to their life style. It takes 4 to 6 years for a gorilla to baby, a female Gorilla is recognized as a mature at the age of 7 or 8 that’s when it became sexually active, it also takes some more years for it to start breeding. A male gorilla mature at a greater age and it rules a family of around 5 t0 10 and some time a number can go up to 50 as male it rules for years. Now because of that family life style United Nations suggested that in 2020s gorillas in Congo may not be found any more. The effort of world wildlife (WWF) Tour operators, Government have done a great work to protect places like Bwindi national Park In Uganda, Mghahinga National park in Uganda, Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, places where mountain Gorilla are being protected and that has increased the number of gorillas.

PRINCE URGES CONSERVATIONIST TO PUT AN END TO POACHING.

The death of Max the white rhino

It was a sadden to Prince William after receiving the news that his friend’s rhino which was slaughtered by poachers just to get it horn which horns are on high demand especially in Asian countries. Max, the white rhinoceros was shot 17 times and later had it horn chopped off in Kenya. In spite of the fact that the rangers had most of its horn as a way of protecting it from these illegal hunters, it was still killed for just a small piece of its horn that was still remaining on its head.
Max was an element in the documentary called the Last Chance To See ad had been looked after by Ian Craig who is the father of Prince William’s former girlfriend Jecca. According to the information that was got, Mr. Craig is the owner of the Lewa wildlife reserve in Kenya although at the time the rhino had been transferred to the Ol Pejeta sanctuary because he had aged and could not look after it very well and it was at Ol Pejeta sanctuary that it was killed from. In 2001 prince Williams spent six weeks volunteering at Mr. Craig’s conservation project and while there he often met Max on his trips to Africa.
Prince William , after seeing and appreciating the work done by Mr. Craig with rhinos, he later became a patron of the Tusk Trust and organization responsible for protecting animals. at the same time, A St James‘s Palace spokesman also mentioned that the Prince was horrified to learn about the death of Max which is why he still encourages all the responsible bodies to protect and conserve rhinos and elephants and has also asked Tusk Trust to inform him of the latest news from Africa.
Poachers constantly slaughter rhinos only to sell In Asia, a kilo of rhino horns cost £40, 00 . where they believe that they can obtain medicine from a rhino horn especially cancer medicine. However Charlie Mayhew, a co-founder of the Tusk Trust, mentioned that the death of Max is an example of what is happening else where in many African countries due to a high demands for the horns more in China and Vietnam.
The Prince is very much interested in seeing the number of rhinos and elephants increasing and having illegal hunting stamped out and this is something he just loves doing and help see up to it that the progression of illegal trade is stopped. Mr. Mayhew also added that this vice of rhino-poaching is at the moment pan-African and said that Zimbabwe lost six rhinos in just one year and that was something he got know while at one of the reserve in Zimbabwe. Just last year in South Africa, there was a rhino being killed in every 20 hrs on average by poachers and this year, South Africa has so far lost 70 and more rhinos to poachers. This therefore demands that the conservations come up with tough measures to curb down the vice in Africa.

Uganda Culture In Mbale

Origins and Background of Inzu Ya Masaaba
Mount Elgon is a bit of a secret. Its mesmerising beauty and the unhurried tempo of the surrounding communities make this region an ideal place to relax, breathe in plenty of fresh air and be refreshed. It is also at the heat of the Masaba land.
It is also an ancient mountain, a volcano that has been standing solitary and silent for millennia, its base one of the largest in the world, its springs feeding numerous rivers and waterfalls, its rich soil nourishing communities across two countries and where you can wander the uncrowded trails to its summit at over four thousand meters (or fourteen thousand feet).
It is on this some mountain where the Inzu Ya Masaaba is situated in the Eastern region of Uganda. Mount Elgon is at the heart of Masaaba land. Inzu Ya Masaaba is the home to Mbale Town and its neighboring districts.
Today the Bamasaaba believ that their ancestors were called Mundu and Sera whom tradition says came from Ethiopian Highlands and settled at the peak of Mt. Masaaba (Elgon). Their early life seems to have been anti-social, almost based on the principle “survival of the fittest. The earliest immigrants of Bugisu (Masaaba) are believed to have moved into the Mt Elgon area during the 16th century.

TARANGIRE WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF ELEPHANTS.

Tarangire National park is being reportedly as one of the highest rate of elephant increase of maximum 7% of each year. This is recorded ever in the Jumbo production rate that is done every year in African. The director of Tarangire Elephant Project, Dr Charles Foley for 25 years he has been doing a study about these huge mammals in the park and he has found out that the rate at which elephant grow is almost 175 mammals per year and this is the highest rate in Africa although the jumbos ‘is still low. The Tarangire Eco-system also combines the Lake Manyara National Park which is about 20,000 square kilometers and it is supposed to be for the Jumbos’ density although it is very low when compared to the rest so says Dr Foley the Assistant Director of Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) programme in Tanzania at the same time.
There are 3200 elephants in the Tarangire eco-system and considering the seven per cent increase of every year from the 2500 jumbo population counted during the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) census of 2009.
Tanzania had about 110,000 elephants coming after Botswana with 123, 000 which has the highest numbers of Jumbos in Africa. However, Dr Foley, Selou Game Reserve had got 45,000 elephants therefore the highest number of large mammals in the country, in second position is Ruaha National park with 35,000 jumbos. Tarangire National Park, together with Monduli, Babati and Simanjiro Districts in Arusha and Manyara regions, is the sixth biggest national park in the country after Ruaha, Serengeti, Mikumi, Katavi and Mkomazi.
This park got its name from Dr Charles Foley the all-season Tarangire River which meanders through the eco-system and it is the main source of water for all the wildlife in the park especially in the dry season.

Birding expert Mr. Richardson Ouma and field guide who is a at Katwe Tourist Information Centre (Katic) mentioned that currently Bird watching has become an interest activities to many tourist who come to Uganda and at Lake Munyanyange, Tourist hearing sound of birds singing  that they some times imitate them.  There are so many migrate birds  from far places like  Canada, Tanzania, Kenya , plus so many other places and they settle at Lake Munyanyange and they include the likes of  White Browed Robbin Chats, Black Headed Gonoleks, Long Tailed Starlings, African Hoopoes, Winding, Zitting, Flamingos, Desert Cisticolas among so many others.Lake Munyanyange is the dead salty lake which was once used to mine salt from it. It is small and shallow Crater Lake which appears only in the wet season in the North East of Katwe town. It is therefore a home to so many birds and has the largest number of the lesser black-backed gulls, Larus fuscus. These birds can be referred to as Palearctic migrants because they usually are no the move in October and leave in April.  Ouma said that these birds love this lake because they find it safe since at some point in time then lake becomes a muddy ground and therefore the animals find it hard to go after the birds to feed on them
KATIC seeing all these beautiful birds all around difference places and nations, now he intends to fence off the lake so that the rest of the animals do not have access to the lake and this project will be monitored by Nature Uganda, an NGO whose representative they are still waiting upon so that they birds are not affected in the process.Martin Kikoni Muhindo, the Katwe-Kabatooro Town Council Clerk offered Shs5m from the council to help alleviate the environmental pressure in the two lakes. This comes after the September 2011partnership between urban authority and KATIC towards management of crater lakes in the region. He added that there are about 32 water bird species that have been identified at the lake while they were doing waterfowl counts of July 2010, a total of about 410 birds representing 11 species were confirmed. Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Tanzania sets the bar high when it comes to adventure safaris with the Serengeti being possibly the most famous game reserve in the world.  From the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro to the massive wildlife concentrations found in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania offers a breadth of diversity and experiences.
Highlights include:

The Serengeti: This 15,000 square km of savannah is probably the most famous of Tanzania’s parks. It Masai Name means ‘Endless Pain’ and it was made a World Heritage Site in 1978. The very mention of the name Serengeti is guaranteed to bring a glint to the eye of even the most experienced traveller. This Serengeti ecosystem supports some of the most plentiful mammal populations left anywhere on earth and the  animals here always seem bigger, stockier and stronger than elsewhere in Africa. The park has some of the best accommodation available in Tanzania and the quality of service is always excellent.

Tarangire National Park: Large herds of wildebeest, hartebeest and elephant can be found in this beautiful baobab tree dotted park that stretches south of Lake Manyara, along the Tarangire River. A great dry season destination, Tarangire is great for spotting gazelles, kudus, giraffes and a whole lot more.

Mount Kilimanjaro: Africa’s highest peak, the extinct volcano Kilimanjaro is emblematic of Tanzania and draws travellers from all over the world. Skirted by lush rainforest and Alpine meadows, the mountain and park is home to monkeys, leopards and buffalo, along with a profusion of birdlife for the ornithographer.

Ngorongoro crater: Wildlife galore and astonishing vistas. This is one of Africa’s most famous game viewing locations. The steep sided crater keeps a melting pot of wildlife in the relatively small area of 260km2, making it easy to see everything from rhinos and elephants to flamingos and storks. Ngorongoro is a tantalising microcosm of safari life that is unmissable on any trip to Tanzania.

Arusha National Park and Mount Meru: Is one of Tanzania’s smallest but most beautiful national parks. The terrain is varied, consisting of rugged volcanoes and craters as well as lakes and forests and the iconic Mount Meru. Wildlife is prolific and you can spot everything from dik-diks and hyenas to vervets and reedbucks, as well as the more familiar big fauna. Some say the best way to see this park is by canoe.

Selous Game ReserveTanzania wildlife sfari: a vast 48,000km2 wilderness game reserve – Africa’s largest. Despite its size, Selous is not as well known or visited as some of the wildlife reserves in northern Tanzania. Flowing through it all is the mighty Rufiji River, which provides the opportunity to see some of Africa’s most striking water-based wildlife such as crocodiles, and where it mixes with seawater in the delta, dolphins. The reserve is also home to large herds of elephants, as well as hippos and black rhino

Rwanda Safaris

Rwanda offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in Africa and has immense tourist attractions in its dramatic Virunga volcanoes bordering Uganda and DRC, Nyungwe Forest and Akagera National Park. Parc National des Volcans – PNV offers the chance to track one of seven families of the rare mountain gorillas. Gorilla tracking in Rwanda is slightly less challenging than in Uganda as hillsides are less steep however tracking can still take 3-10 hours. We organize several gorilla safaris in Rwanda offering you the chance to meet the few remaining mountain gorillas in the wild. On your Rwanda gorilla safari you can stay in various lodges within Rwanda. On our safaris, you can also combine a gorilla holiday in Rwanda with an extended trip to Uganda or Congo.
